Frequently Asked Questions

  • Yes! Please click the reservations tab at the top of the page for availability. Please note that there are limited indoor reservations available for groups of more than 6. For larger groups please click the “group reservation” link at the top of the page to check availability and book our Private Room. The room seats up to 12 and can be booked 2 weeks in advance. When you arrive at the distillery please check in with the host for seating.

  • Yes! We have several rental options available. Please email events@bellemaradistillery.com for more information and to book your event.

  • Yes! We do offer a limited pre-packaged snack menu, but you are welcome to bring food and non-alcoholic drinks, or have it delivered. Carriage Farm often arranges for food trucks to visit the site. You can see their schedule on Carriage Farm’s website. Please note we do not provide plates, napkins or flatware.

  • No. There is no outside alcohol permitted at Bellemara. That includes beer from Flounder Brewing Co. next door. You also cannot carry our drinks off of our licensed premises, but you can buy bottles to take home!

  • Pets are allowed on the patio when it is open. They must be leashed and supervised at all times. If a pet is disrupting another guest’s visit you will be asked to remove them from the patio. (The pet, not the other guest…)

  • Your Service Animal is permitted so long as it meets the ADA definition of a Service Animal. The ADA defines Service Animals as “dogs that are individually trained to do work or perform tasks for people with disabilities.” Your Service Animal must be under the control of the owner at all times and is not permitted on the furniture unless required as part of the service task the animal is trained to perform. For more information about whether you can bring your animal please see the ADA guidelines.

Unfortunately emotional support, therapy, comfort, or companion animals are NOT considered service animals under the ADA and therefore are not allowed in the tasting room as that would violate local health codes.

  • Bellemara is set up to make sure all of our customers have the best experience possible. Our space is relatively small and standing room would make it difficult for servers to move around, and would raise noise levels to an unacceptable level. We strongly believe the best way to enjoy our products is comfortably seated at a table or our tasting bar.

  • There is ample parking on Carriage Farm and all guests must park in marked parking spaces. The paved lot immediately to the right after turning on Clerico Lane is available, as is the rear lot. All of the parking connects so there is no need to try to U-turn in the middle of the lots!

  • Absolutely no smoking or vaping is permitted inside Bellemara, on the patio, or within 25 ft of the building. Anyone found smoking in or around the building or on the patio will be asked to leave. Carriage Farm only allows smoking at the smoking gazebo located around the rear of the distillery. Any member of staff will be happy to direct smokers to the approved location.

  • Absolutely! All customers will receive a verbal tour when they arrive and the distillery can be viewed through the windows in the tasting room. If you want the real deal you can sign up by clicking the tours link at the top of the page. The guided tours also include a tasting. Otherwise, tastings are always available on our menu.

  • A ‘Single Malt’ is a product made from 100% malted barley and produced at a single distillery. A Single Malt Distillery is a distillery that specializes in only making Single Malts. We make all of our products from malted barley right here in our distillery in Hillsborough, NJ.

  • The Single Malt Spirit is an unaged, clear spirit that is double-distilled and then carbon filtered similar to a traditional vodka. We developed this spirit so that it would perform perfectly in cocktails, but also retain the flavors of the malted barley and fermentation process. Vodka is legally defined as being distilled to over 190 proof (95% alcohol). Our stills are designed for whisky so they only go up to around 170 proof (85% alcohol). So even though the production process is similar, we do not call the Single Malt Spirit ‘Vodka’. It is in its own category.

  • YES! We now have American Single Malt Whisky on the menu.

  • Nope. All of our products are made exclusively from malted barley. Bourbon is defined as being made with at least 51% corn. We are making American Single Malt Whisky.

  • Right now we do not do live music, but we may introduce this at a later date.

  • Nope. We are totally separate businesses. Just friendly neighbors. Please do not try to carry drinks from one business to the other.

  • Unfortunately, New Jersey does not allow you to bring cocktails to the brewery or beer to the distillery. Your group will either have to split up or visit one business and then the other.

  • Honestly, everyone trying to get in underage claims to be over 21. Given the severe repercussions on both our staff and business should we inadvertently serve an underage person we have a 100% ID policy. You must provide a valid, current, government issued photo ID when you arrive. Please don’t get mad at our staff for doing their jobs.

  • Yes, underage persons are allowed when accompanied by a parent. They must remain seated with your group at all times and obviously cannot drink.

  • All the property surrounding the distillery and brewery is owned by Carriage Farm LLC. Though you are welcome to walk around and visit the goats, they do not permit any other sort of recreation in the area.
